Join our partners at the uCreate studio to make your own Virtual Reality headset!
Please note, this course takes place at the uCreate Studio (Room 1.12 of the University’s Central Library 30 George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9LJ). Please report to the porter’s desk on arrival.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners.
Participants must bring with them their own smartphone.
In this hands-on session attendees will build their own VR headset, over the course of building this we will cover:
1. The history of VR.
2. The important elements of a VR headset – optics, tracking, computation etc.
3. Sourcing of content for VR.
4. Tools we can use to make our own VR content.
This is a hands-on, practical workshop. By the end of the session participants will have their own souvenir cardboard VR headset which simply requires a smartphone to start enjoying VR content.
On completion of this workshop, students will have increased their confidence in trying new digital skills.
No additional reading is required.
