How has music changed over ten centuries? Come along and we’ll guide you through one piece of music for each century between 1000 – 2000.
No previous knowledge of the subject is assumed.
This session will offer a whistle-stop tour of Western classical music, from Gregorian chant, to minimalism, via the baroque, romanticism and impressionism. Expect to hear a taste of some well-known favourite pieces as well as discovering some less well-known composers.
Illustrated lecture and group discussion.
By the end of this taster course, students should be able to:
