This level continues to develop the skills of understanding and speaking Italian. It introduces the language for everyday purposes such as asking for and giving simple information, shopping, organizing a holiday etc. To provide a framework for such communication it introduces basic grammatical structures.
Students should have completed Italian 1.2 or otherwise acquired a similar level of proficiency.
The emphasis in this course is on speaking and listening. The lessons will focus on language that is required for communicating in real situations.
The lessons will include whole class activities and pair or small group work, role-play, watching videos and listening to CDs. Grammar is introduced in context. More extensive written exercises and reading texts are normally only set as homework.
In order to fully benefit from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, you will need to devote 1-2 hours outwith classes to revision and homework.
