Course Summary

This course introduces students to Adobe Premiere Pro, an industry standard for digital video. Whether you are new to Adobe Premiere or just needing a refresher, this course will guide you through the various elements such as how to import, edit, manipulate and export video files together with exploring the use of sounds to create a short, sequenced film.

The course will be delivered via Blackboard Collaborate and Learn.

Course Details

Pre-requisites for enrolment

By signing up to the course students will be given access to a free Adobe Creative Cloud licence to the suite of Adobe software for the duration of the course. Details will be provided after you have signed up for a course. 

Special Information

Materials you will need to bring to the first class:

  • Basic drawing / writing materials,

  • Memory stick / external hard drive, 8gb minimum,

  • Headphones.

In addition to the course fee, students are expected to provide the following list of indicative tools, materials and equipment:

Content of Course

Each session, students will be introduced to various aspects of Adobe Premiere Pro. The sessions will explore a combination of practical exercises and demonstrations, which include:

1. Getting started - understanding what the software is used for and how to navigate it.

2. Begin to explore to import and organise video and sound clips.

3. Explore assembling and fine-tuning clip sequences.

4. Explore applying transitions and video effects.

5. Explore adding titles and credits.

Teaching method(s)

Ideally you should have;
An up-to-date web browser (Google Chrome recommended) 
Microphone (ideally headset) and Webcam 
Strong Internet connection
 
Teaching will be fully online and will typically include a range of practical exercises, introductions to techniques, processes and concepts, and set projects which lead to more focused and personal exploration. Over the course, students’ progress will be monitored and supported by the tutor.  Teaching will include practical demonstrations, one to one tuition, group discussions and critiques.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a knowledge for the principles of the Adobe Premiere Pro software package.

  • Demonstrate an ability to use the key features of the Adobe Premiere Pro software.

  • Demonstrate an ability to apply the skills learnt to a project.
