This course introduces students to Adobe Illustrator, an industry standard for Illustrators and Graphic Designers. Whether you are new to Illustrator or just needing a refresher, this course will guide you through the various elements such as vector working, using type and editing drawings for a variety of media such as web, print or video.
Short 1:1 sessions with the tutor will be offered to students once a week within the times outlined below:
Mondays 5.20-6.50pm and Thursdays 5.20-6.50pm
By signing up to the course students will be given access to a free Adobe Creative Cloud licence to the suite of software for the duration of the course. Details will be provided after you have signed up for a course.

1. Getting started - Navigating and exploring Adobe Illustrator, understanding what the software is used for.
2. Understanding Vector drawing.
3. Exploring the Drawing tools and understand Bézier curves, the root of drawing in Illustrator.
4. Explore measuring objects, being able to place them with precision.
5. Explore working with and adding type.
6. A project that focuses upon creating a brand mark.
7. Explore trace and colour based on your own drawings and artwork using Live Trace, Live Paint, and Live Colour.
8. Explore exporting for web, print and other media.
Teaching will be fully online. Students will need an up-to-date web browser, microphone (ideally head set), webcam and strong Internet connection.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of the Adobe Illustrator software package.
Demonstrate an ability to use the key features of Adobe Illustrator software.
Demonstrate an ability to apply the skills learnt to a project.
