This course is suitable for students who have successfully completed Chinese 1.1 and for learners who have equivalent knowledge of the Chinese language: being familiar with the basic principles of the speaking and writing systems of the Chinese language; having a fair command of about 120 Chinese words and some basic grammar and sentence structures that are used to express events in the present. More basic grammar will be taught so as to lay a foundation for further studies.
Students should have completed Chinese 1.1 or otherwise acquired a similar level of proficiency.
The course is tutorial based with a combination of joint class activities and group work. Supplementary material is prepared by the teacher. In order to fully benefit from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, students are expected to spend 1-2 hours per class on revision and homework.
