COL in Performance: Jazz

Content of Course

This session will explore music and culture though jazz performance. Expect to hear a taste of some well-known standard pieces from the repertoire as well as discovering some less well-known music.

Teaching method(s)

Performance and guided group discussion.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this taster course, students should be able to:

• Identify key instruments of a jazz ensemble.

• Demonstrate an awareness of how jazz has developed and how it is performed.
