Moving between digital tools and physical materials, utilising both studio and digital spaces; this course will support you to explore and develop skills in how to take ‘analogue’ sketchbooks, paintings and photographs and combine them digital software to further develop your ideas and fully realise a new work.
No previous knowledge of the subject is required.

Each session students will be introduced to various aspects in relation to the course. The sessions will explore a combination of contextual references and feature practical exercises and demonstrations, which include:
1. An introduction to the basics of iPhoto and Adobe Photoshop.
2. An introduction to a range of research methodologies, looking at how to move ideas from the page to the screen and back again.
3. An introduction to contextual references.
4. Explore methods to move ideas from the physical into a digital space and vice versa.
5. Explore low-tech methods using acetates to advance ideas.
6. Explore methods of collaging digitally printed materials within drawing and painting.
This course will be based and delivered between specialist art and design studios and a digital suite and will typically include a range of practical exercises, introductions to techniques, processes and concepts. This is supported by practical demonstrations, group discussions, contextual references and one-to-one support.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
Employ a range of analogue and digital approaches to develop ideas.
Use a range of drawing and painting approaches, appropriate to the ideas generated.
Resolve and present a series of coherent pieces of work.
