Course Summary

This course offers a basic introduction and starting point to the language and grammar of drawing for students with little or no experience. Participants will be guided through a range of drawing approaches and processes using line, tone, and colour in composition by working from direct observation of studio setups, the life model and from students’ own collected visual ideas. During the course weeks, students will build confidence in the uses of materials and techniques ‘step-by-step’ and begin to make more imaginative and distinctive images underpinned by a formal understanding of visual enquiry.
