Course Summary

Students will be encouraged to work directly from a life model at pace with a restricted colour palette and limited painting tools to produce lively and expressive head studies all in just over an hour…can it be done?

Pre-requisites for enrolment

No experience required

Special Information

Essentials Materials and equipment students will need to provide themselves:

· Pencils and charcoal

· Set of acrylic paints and brushes

· Paper or card to paint on

· Sponge

Content of Course

This is a one off short workshop which will include:

10 minute demonstration of techniques followed by close one-to-one tuition

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • understand the use of restricted palette;
  • exploit the use of coloured grounds;
  • explore a range of mark-making techniques;
  • complete a one-hour head study.
