This course is currently unavailable.
This course is the continuation of Advanced 3. Students continue to develop all the four skills. The gap between their receptive and productive skills is further closed. The development of listening and speaking skills will remain a focus of the course, and teachers will at the same time encourage students to mainly use Chinese characters in reading and writing. Additional assistance will be provided for students who need to use more pinyin to help with their studies. Students are encouraged to reflect and internalise grammatical devices and structures that they have studied and actively use them in conversations and writings. Topics covered in the textbook can also help students know more about Chinese cultural and society. In addition to the textbook, teachers will also include other materials and exercises according to students’ interests and proficiency level. Students are also encouraged to read Chinese authentic materials after class and share vocabularies and expressions with their classmates.
The course is tutorial based with a combination of joint class activities and group work. Supplementary material is prepared by the teacher. To benefit fully from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, students are strongly encouraged to spend at least 1-2 hours to revise each class.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Textbook: Ten Level Chinese Book 6 (to complete Lessons 7-8 and review the whole book)
