This course aims to improve the speaking and listening skills of students with an elementary knowledge of Arabic. You will have the opportunity to increase your fluency while revising some basic grammar structures of the language and expanding your vocabulary knowledge.
Students should be familiar with basic structures like the alphabet, the present tense, numbers and counting and have some knowledge of the past tense.

Going shopping
Talking about a holiday
Revision and consolidation of the present and past tense
The emphasis in this course is on speaking and listening. The lessons will focus on language that is required for communicating in real situations.
The lessons will include whole class activities and pair or small group work, role-play, watching videos and listening to CDs. Grammar is introduced in context.
In order to fully benefit from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, you will need to devote some time outwith classes to revision and homework.
By the end of the course students should be able to:
Ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics
Interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help
Understand very short, simple texts on familiar topics
Handouts will be provided and there is no need to purchase a textbook.
Where appropriate web sources will be provided by tutor.
